The 75th annual Primetime Emmy Awards finally made their way to the airwaves on Sunday, Jan. 15.

Comedian-actor Anthony Anderson served as the master of ceremonies at the Peacock Theater at LA Live in Downtown Los Angeles.

Due to 2023’s SAG-AFTRA strike, the award ceremony, coined “the biggest night in television,” was postponed in July, scratching its original September 18th date.

The delay proved favorable for the event as it received positive reviews from viewers and critics. The praise for a smooth telecast can be attributed to this year being the first time an all-Black executive producer team led the awards.

In May 2023, Jesse Collins Entertainment was revealed to be taking over the production from Done+Dusted and Hudlin Entertainment. At the helm of this historic undertaking was Dionne Harmon, President of Jesse Collins Entertainment, and Jeannie Rouzan-Clay, SVP of Specials at the production company.

The highlights from the Emmy Awards include a 20-year reunion of the cast of the iconic sitcom Martin.

In a replica of the sitcom’s living room set, former cast members Tisha Campbell, Carl Anthony Payne II, and Tichina Arnold joined Martin Lawerence on stage. The funny cast was there to present the nominees for Lead Actor in a Comedy Series, but not before Campbell acknowledged the fact that the HBO series “should’ve won an Emmy during our run.”

Music legend Elton John became an EGOT with his win in the Live Variety category and Trevor Noah became the first winner of color to take home the award for Outstanding Talk Series.
